According to the World Bank, in 1970, the top 3 African countries with high net exports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total exports of goods and services in current US$ minus total imports of goods and services in current US$) are: Ivory Coast (96.96M US$), Mauritania (46.76M US$), and Uganda (40.76M US$).

Conversely, in 1970, the top 3 African countries with high net imports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total imports of goods and services in current US$ minus total exports of goods and services in current US$ ) are: South Africa (632.80M US$), Nigeria (352.09M US$), and Algeria (344.33M US$).

The World Bank defines exports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world" , and defines imports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services received from the rest of the world".
