According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, there were 3,727,135 people who identified as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, which was 1.12% of the total US population. This number is the population from the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

California had the highest number of American Indian and Alaska Native Alone population (631,016), followed by Oklahoma (332,791), and then Arizona (319,512). On the other hand, the 3 states that had the least number of American Indian and Alaska Native Alone population include: Vermont (2,289), New Hampshire (3,031), and West Virginia (3,706).
